Sacred Seeks
People from all over the country, old, young, poor, rich dont mind taking any pains for one holy dip in the ganges. It amuses me to see the kind of power that any particular belief holds... the calm and content on the faces is overwhelming. I dunno, but probably when thousands of souls for once with all their hope offer prayers all at once...am sure it gives out some kinda postive vibes that people have to take back home. Be it the aarti in the evening when the illumination of the entire river side with lamps turns to a lovely sight, halwa puri parantha , or shopping for cute stuff in the markets... I dont strongly adhere to any particular practice, but the serenity or the different feel you find at such places once in a while is an experience you must have.
You can read more about the mythological stories and beliefs pertaining to this place here (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Haridwar)
The more you celebrate life, the more there is in life to celebrate...:)

I love the vastness of this shot. Haridwar is indeed very unique with people, nature and religion coming together.

@Sorabh: yeah..n then you should also go to uttaranchal for a longgg breathtaking trek:)
This place is so enchanting. Despite of that huge crowd around you, you feel that peace, that calm. Its just you, all alone, overwhelmed and unable to contain the serenity and purity. And those sinful delights by the bank. Poori and Cholla dripping with Ghee. Heaven. Indeed. No wonder the deities chose that place :)
Beautiful shot. I am so glad to see this place being updated so often.

@alla: thanks alla. yeah, there is this oneness as well as detachment frm the huge scattered crowd.
Very nice! I've been there in November and enjoyed it very much. I agree when you say that when all those souls join, something good comes inside.

@raingirl: okay... I know it might a lil chaotic. But then that feel of dipping ur feet in that freezing icy cold water(am nt brave enuf to take an entire body dip), amazing evening weather, seeing everyone around you in a kind of a meditative mood, and the aarti in the eve...and u can always find a quite corner to urself if u really look for it....
