this is a part of a broomstick captured on frame that is used for sweeping floors.
There is a huge market for wild broomsticks in India (specially the remote areas) and a lot of women in rural India and not so developed communities earn their livelihood by cultivating broomsticks and other handicrafts like leaf plates which is again made by stiching together broomstick grass that they collect from forests.
Thanks to the NGO am workin with for few days, I happened to meet this lady, a widow, who earlier used to earn a meagre sum by selling parched rice but now has a better source of income out of selling her handworks, enough to support her children's education.
To me this whispers about the Shades of true liberation and empowerment :)
